Director:
Brian Montrey has served as Worship and Arts Pastor at Mad City Church since 1999. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Michelle, and together they have four wonderful children. He graduated from Christian Life College in Mount Prospect, Illinois, in 1992 with a degree in Music Ministry. Music, and specifically worship leading and songwriting/recording are his primary artistic giftings and passions, but God placed a burden on his heart for the arts as a whole. In response to this burden, Brian called on some of the gifted people that God has brought to Mad City Church, and together they prayerfully developed the vision for The Greenhouse.
Ceramics:
Catherine Russo is currently a Ceramic Specialist at La Follette High School. She has had the privilege of teaching thousands of students of all ages over the past twenty-two years. Catherine's personal artistic endeavors have been primarily sculptural and clay focused although she also nurtures her abilities in drawing, painting, photography, creative writing and is currently sings with the worship ministry at Mad City Church. Her passion for the creative process as it relates to and reflects life's process has been of special interest to her as she has journeyed into deeper places of faith in and knowledge of the character and love of God. She is honored to participate in and support what He is doing in the hearts of artists within the Body.
Fine Art:
Linnea Spransy, from her earliest memory, has been doodling in some form or another. This preoccupation eventually led to study for a BA in Drawing from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. till eager for further training, she attended graduate school at Yale School of Art and earned a Masters Degree. Having moved to Madison, she continues to show her work in a variety of venues, intentionally lives in community and persists in devoting herself to serious doodling.
Music:
Matt Spransy has over thirty years of experience as a believer in the music business, including recording seven albums as the former keyboardist for Christian rock bands 'Servant' and 'The Sheep'. These opportunities allowed him to work with several top-notch producers and engineers in some of the best studios in the world. With those bands he as performed several thousand concerts across the US, Canada and Europe. In addition to being an accomplished live and studio sound engineer, Matt is currently a record producer with his own recording studio, having 5 albums and several demos to his credit.
Music:
Glenn Lemieux is a composer, theorist and pianist. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) from the University of North Texas in composition as well as a Ph.D. in music theory from the University of Iowa. He is the recipient of various awards and grants including a grant from the Iowa Arts Council which, in part, supported the production of a CD for Music In Eleven Parts for live trumpet and ten pre-recorded trumpets. He has written for various ensembles including chorus, orchestra, string quartet, trumpet choir and pan ensemble. His current projects include Suite for Flute and Violencello, Mazzaroth for Circular Orchestra, and an exploration of the music of Bill Evans, a jazz pianist from the 50's and 60's.
Photography/Film:
Colleen Lindl graduated in 2000 with a degree in communication studies and a minor in photography. With broad artistic interests, she has displayed her photography in local shows, been part of a performing arts team that traveled to Asia, and is currently editing a film documentary of that trip. She is in her third year of study at the Mad City Training Center, and is considering going to film school.
Textile Arts:
Siv Spransy is married to Matt, and together they have five children, four of whom are grown. Siv has over thirty years of experience in textiles, having started two successful businesses. She does very advanced knitting (i.e. Norwegian sweaters), clothing design, and is an excellent seamstress. She currently has a business creating window treatments, lamp shades and doing re-upholstery. Siv especially enjoys the pastoral role of mentoring as she teaches her craft.
Theatre/Dance:
Kate Wehrley graduated with a Musical Theatre degree in 2000 from the University of Wisconsin, and has since taught in France and settled back in Madison to be a student of the Mad City Training Center at Mad City Church. She desires to skillfully create and perform various works that influence people in the world to the glory of God.
Writing:
Gloria Brandt is married to Dan, keeps busy home-schooling their four daughters, and in her 'spare' time loses herself in books, movies and writing. Having published four novels and one novella in the CBA (Christian Booksellers Association), her desire is to publish more in the mainstream in order to expand the impact of the stories she feels God has placed on her heart.
